Lesson 6
The Days of Creation – Day 6
Unit Game
Days of Creation Hide & Seek
Have them find the things hidden around the room and when they find them ask them what they are. If they don’t know, tell them. Steer the conversation to the fact that God made each thing they found. Ask them about their favorite thing God created. Have them sort and put away the items as you ask about them.
PRAYER TIME
Have them find their circle and sit down
Today we are going to practice asking prayers again. When there is something you want or need who do you usually ask? Allow answers.
Remember, God wants us to ask him when we need things too! We are not supposed to worry or whine about what we need—we just ask! The Bible says God already knows what we need even before we ask! But He wants us to trust Him and ask Him for everything.
Ask who wants to pray first, hand the Prayer Bear to them and help them think of a prayer. Give turns.
LESSON
Get out the Days of Creation Numbers and hand them out to children as evenly as possible. Tell them to hold onto them until they hear their day. Make sure they know which number they’re holding!
We are going to read our Days of Creation Book together again today! Who created everything? Allow answers.
God did! God is the Eternal One! He is the only one who is eternal! What does eternal mean? Allow answers. Do you remember, is your pet eternal? Are you eternal? Allow guesses.
No, because you were born! God was not born, He has always been therein He created everything. But do you get to spend the rest of eternity with God? Allow answers.
Yes, we do! We get to spend eternity with Jesus because He died for us and raised from the dead, so we can be with Him forever!
What is our Bible verse? Allow guesses.
Let’s practice it again! Say it with me!
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Repeat it three times together if needed.
Do you know how long it took God to create the world? Allow answers.
It took Him only 6 days! And what happened on the 7th day? Allow answers. God rested and He made that day….? Allow answers.
He made that day holy, special, different from all the other days! That day belongs to God! We worship God on that day and we rest from whatever we have been doing all week, and we come to church!
We are going to read our book again and I’ll need your help. We are going to sing about each day of creation to the tune of Frere Jacques. Sing or hum the tune so they know it.
When we sing about your day of creation, you get to put your number on the wall, so pay attention!
Show them the wall or board where you want them to stick their number when you get to it. Show them the Creation Book and read/sing it to them. On each day have them put their number on the wall/board.
Very good job singing and paying attention! Wasn’t that fun? God created so many beautiful things didn’t He?
Now we are going to work on our own Creation Book again.
CRAFT

Get out the supplies for the Day 6 craft and help them glue the faces, eyes, lips, and hair (yarn) on the person and stick the land animal stickers on the Day 6 page.
Suggested Discussion:
Do you know what God created on Day 6 of creation? Allow guesses.
Well, chances are, your favorite animal or even your pet’s kind was created on Day 6—because God created all the land animals on day 6! An animal “kind” is a family of animals. Like the cat family, dog family, or horse family. And all those families of animals were created on day six, because those are all land animals.
But if you have a pet fish, your pet was created on what day? Allow answers. Day 5! That’s right.
Maybe even your favorite zoo animal’s kind was created on Day 6! What’s your favorite zoo animal? Allow answers.
God created all “kinds” of land animals on day 6—the cow “kind”, the snake “kind”, the lizard “kind,” the creepy, crawly insects (since they crawl on the ground) and can you think of another “kind” of animal that lives on land? Allow guesses.
But besides all the land animals, God created something very special on day 6. What was it? Allow guesses.
God created people! Like you and me. He created a man and a woman and their names were Adam and Eve. God made Adam and Eve different from all the rest of creation because He created them to be like Him. We are not eternal, and we are not God, but we are people just like God is a person. We are not animals. We have a spirit just like God. We have been made in the image of God.
Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror? Allow answers. Get out the mirror you brought and show them their face in the mirror.
That’s an image in the mirror of what you look like. We all look a lot like our parents too. God made us to look and be like Him, kind of like how we look like our parents, so that makes us very, very special to Him!
