Lesson 7 – Creation (PreK)

Lesson 7

The Days of Creation – Day 7

Unit Game

Days of Creation Hide & Seek

Have them find the things hidden around the room and when they find them ask them what they are. If they don’t know, tell them. Steer the conversation to the fact that God made each thing they found. Ask them about their favorite thing God created. Have them sort and put away the items as you ask about them.

PRAYER TIME

Have them find their circle and sit down.

Today we are going to practice praise prayers! We are going to think of things to praise God for! Praise is when we say how amazing God is. We have learned about a lot of things to praise God for in the past few weeks. What are some things we can praise God for? God is AWESOME because He created everything—you, me, the animals, the trees…. God is also POWERFUL! He is BIG and STRONG and He is protecting us! God is LOVING because He sent Jesus to die for us and save us from our sins!

Ask who wants to pray first, hand the Prayer Buddy to them and help them think of a prayer. Give turns.

LESSON

Get out the Days of Creation Numbers and hand them out to children as evenly as possible. Tell them to hold onto them until they hear their day. Make sure they know which number they’re holding!

Today is the last week we are going to read our book together about the days of Creation! And then you will put together your own Creation Book and you get to take it home with you. Then you can sing it to your parents and your brother and sisters!

Who created everything? . . . . That’s right, God did! Before there was anything at all created, who was there? God was! That’s because He is…? Eternal! That means He has always been there and always will be.

Can anyone say our Bible verse for me? Whoever can say the Bible verse without any help gets a prize today!

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

Help each of them to say it on their own. Give them hints if needed. It’s best if they all get a prize even if it’s not perfect, this way they are motivated for the next time! Praise them!

How long did it take God to create the whole world? Allow answers.

That’s right! Only 6 days! And what did God do on the 7th day? Wait for guesses. On the 7th day He rested from His work of creating everything.

And what did God say about everything after He created it? Wait for guesses. He said that it was very good!

We are going to read our book again and I’ll need your help. We are going to sing about each day of creation to the tune of Frere Jacques. Sing or hum the tune so they know it.

When we sing about your day of creation, you get to put your number on the wall, so pay attention!

Show them the wall or board where you want them to stick their number when you get to it. Show them the Creation Book and read/sing it to them. On each day have them put their number on the wall/board.

Very good job singing and paying attention! Wasn’t that fun? God created so many beautiful things didn’t He?

Now we are going to work on our own Creation Book and finish making it!

CRAFT

Get out the supplies for the Day 7 craft and help them glue the world and the tissue paper on it for the land on the Day 7 page. Drawing the sleeping face is optional! You could also draw a church to show that the seventh day is for worshiping the Lord.

Suggested Discussion:

Do you think God really needed to rest on the 7th day? Allow guesses.

No, He didn’t really need to because He is God, right? He is big and strong and He can do anything. But He wanted to show us what He wants us to do. God wants us to take a day to rest and worship Him! That’s why He stopped His work on the 7th day and He made it holy. Holy means it’s SPECIAL and it’s just for God. It’s not for us to do whatever we want to. The 7th day belongs to Him!

We go to church on Sunday and we make it a special day for God—to rest from working and to worship God and remember how much He loves us and that we love Him!

Do you like going to church and Sunday school? Allow answers.

Do you love God? Allow answers.

Guess what! God loves you and that’s why He created you!

Review all the things God has made and help them put their page into their Creation Book which they can take home this week!
