Lesson 8
The Days of Creation – Review
Unit Game
Creation Hide & Seek
Have them find the Creation Cards (or items you have brought to class) hidden around the room and when they find them ask them what they are. If they don’t know, tell them. Steer the conversation to the fact that God made each thing they found. Ask them about their favorite thing God created. Have them put the items or cards into the correct basket for the day of creation they were made on.
Prayer Time
Have them find their circle and sit down
Today we are going to practice I’m Sorry Prayers! Everyone does bad things sometimes, right? What do we call it when we do bad things? Allow answers.
It’s called sin! Who died to save us from our sin? Allow answers.
Jesus died on the cross so that we could be forgiven and washed clean of our sins! That’s because God wants to be close to us! Sin keeps us separated from God. God sent Jesus to die for our sins so that we wouldn’t have to be separated from Him anymore! The Bible says that when we confess our sins—when we say we are sorry—then God will hear us and forgive our sins.
Ask who wants to pray first, hand the Prayer Buddy to them and help them pray. They can pray silently if they want to. Ask if they’d like to say they’re sorry to God for anything and assure them God will forgive them.
Example: “I’m sorry God for sinning and doing bad things that hurt you and hurt my family and friends and hurt me. Please forgive me! I want to be close to you and go to heaven and be with you someday. Thank you for sending Jesus to die for my sins so I don’t have to. I want You to help me not to sin any more. In Jesus’ name Amen.”
Lesson
Since this is a review week, have your prize box ready.
Who remembers who created everything? Allow answers.
Thats right! God did! God is the Eternal One! What does eternal mean? Allow answers.
Eternal means God has always been there! He has no beginning and He has no end. He wasn’t born like you and me, and He will never die. He has always been and always will be.
Is your pet eternal? Are you eternal? Allow guesses.
No, because you were born! God was not born, He has always been there and He will always be!
Do you remember how long it took God to create the world? Allow answers.
It took Him only 6 days! What happened on the 7th day? Allow answers.
God rested and He made that day….? Allow answers.
He made the 7th day holy! That means it’s special! It belongs to Him.
Get out the Days of Creation Numbers and hand them out to children as evenly as possible. Tell them to hold onto them until they hear their day. Make sure they know which number they’re holding!
Now we are going to read our Days of Creation Book together for the last time today! And now that you have your own songbook you can sing this song with your families at home!
Sing the Days of Creation song together.
